How do you get inspired to decorate?
Are you a Pinterest addict? Do you peruse One King’s Lane, Joss & Main and other such home decor sites? Or are you a touchy-feely girl like me? Do you want to make something old new again?
I’ve got the perfect thing for you…
Bachman’s Ideas House. Each season brings fresh new ideas in the historic Bachman’s Lyndale Avenue house. Designers transform each room into pure magic.
Wild Ruffle recently visited the Fall Ideas House. And we couldn’t get enough of it! Every turn was so packed with home decor that we couldn’t see every fabulous detail even if we visited 100 times over. Sadly if you didn’t make it over there this year, you’ve missed it. But don’t cry too hard because the Holiday Idea House is currently taking shape and it’s always the main event of the year. If you like, you can pick up most of the items in the retail store around the corner… or the rooms just get you inspired!
Rustic mixed with sparkle. Old and new. Metallic and matte. Inspiration for everyone to enjoy!
Another great way we inspire ourselves is to hit the local Junk Bonanza. I think everyone in the tri-state area was crowded into that Expo building. Shoulder to shoulder. I thought it was packed, but some friends told me this was nothing, normally it’s worse.
It’s so fun to walk around and think… I could totally make that! And we did A. Lot. of that. So don’t be surprised if you see a few DIYs from our junk bonanza shopping trip coming up soon.
I do have to say, there were both outrageous prices and fantastic deals! I drooled at the overpriced items but scored a few fun finds for my new house. An antique camera for my front sitting room. An old fashioned typewriter for Christmas for my 10 year old budding author that loves everything old and mysterious. It will go perfectly in her World Traveler/Bohemian bedroom. And last but not least, an old weight scale for my kitchen. It was distressed gray and screamed for me to bring it home.
You don’t have to be a visionary… you just have to open your mind to something fun and quirky. It can be a simple touch that makes your room chic. Plus, all else fails, invite your artsy friend to go along with you. Have coffee, lunch and shop shop shop.
So back to my first question. What inspires you?
