Revisiting Italy through a single scarf-5

Do you ever wear items that you got on vacation JUST so you can be transported back to that magical time and place?

I do.

Like the other day when I woke up in a rut. A gloomy winter’s-never-gonna-leave rut. I needed a pick me up. And after a purple scarf in my closet caught my eye, I realized that this was going to be the thing to change my mood. I’d use these Italian threads to trick my mind into thinking I was back on the streets of Rome; sipping their sweet grape juice and taking in all of the laid-back culture.

Now keep in mind that it was 4 years ago that my husband and I walked the historical streets of Italy, but I can remember it like it was yesterday. It was one of those kinds of vacations. Eventful, busy, tiring yet so very very lovely. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I grabbed this purple scarf one morning while my love and I were perusing for fresh fruit & espressos in Campo dei Fiori, Rome. I was immediately drawn to the deep plum tones and warm blend of textures. It was meant to be mine.

I don’t wear it often. But when I do, I spend the day dreaming about the true romance I have with Italy. Although I enjoyed many Italian cities and regions {My favorites in order: Cinque Terre, Venice, Siena, Tuscan region, Rome}, my heart belongs to Florence. The art history, the understated fashion, the picturesque landscapes, the food and drink… I could go on and on. I would move there in a heart-beat if I could get my family on board!

I could still blog from there, right?!

Alas, I am left to daydreaming. There will be no International HouseHunter episodes starring ME any time soon. I am happy to choose being here because my people are here. And that’s what matters most.

Just glad I have a souvenir to take me back…

  1. Super cute! I love purple, my favorite color. The tights are so fun too! I totally understand about the memories! I try to pick up little things from the countries I visit so when I put them on the memories are there. Now I think I need to go back to Italy!

  2. Didn’t you love Italy, Tammy? I actually live very close by, on the other side of the Adriatic Sea. That scarf is beautiful and I love the fun tights. I own an identical skirt so I saved this outfit to use as inspiration for me. Thanks.

Happy Hump Day, pretty lady! <3 Ada.
